The history of Chethallur starts from 5000 year plus history of great Hindu Saga. "Pandavas" believed to be lived in surroundings of Chethallur at the time of Anjatha Vasa ( Hiden Living). The names "Bheemanad, Kunthi Puzha" all shows a clear proof of a great culture. Unfortunately the pseudo secular historians doesnt wants to explore these great informations.
A legend Naranath Bhranthan (Believed to be an Avatar of Vishnu) of Parayipetta Pandirukulam lived here. Still his house Naranathmana exists in Chethallur. A rock, which Bhranthan used to play still there on  Bhranthan Hill.
 
Our village politically was a pro congress one in early years, but later it went to the hands of communist party. The CPM stands as the largest political outfit in the village while the new generation BJP stands just behind. Indian Union Muslim League also have some pockets in chethallur.
 
The Rashtriya Swayam Sevak sangh started Sakha activities soon after the entry of Sangh to Kerala. It conducted a great root march on Vijaya Dashmi day in 2002. Sangh presently have two Sakhas in village, runs a Vidyabharathi controlled Sisumandir "Sri Padmanabha Sisu Mandir". Balagokulam celebrates Sri Krishna Jayanthi Sobha Yatra every year with mass crowd.
 
Chethallur Srikrishna temple celebrates Talappoli festival with a massive firework. Thousands takes participate each year on Talapoli festival and Kalampattu for Bhagavathi.
 
Chethallur Pooram is the biggest extravaganza on Chethallur which attracts tens of thousands people from across the district. More than 35 elephants gives a great look for Pooram.
Chethallur pooram has emerged as the largest Pooram festival in Mannarkkad Taluk in less than 10 years. Unfortunately media slips always from Chethallur Pooram spot. 2006 Pooram will be celebrated on April 9th.
